Description

Organic peanuts
Originating in South America, peanuts have a long history dating back to ancient civilisations such as the Incas and Aztecs, who cultivated and consumed them as a staple food. Groundnuts later spread to other parts of the world and became an important crop in Africa, Asia and North America. Although peanuts are botanically a legume, they are often referred to as nuts because of their nutritional value and uses.
Peanuts are an excellent source of protein, healthy fats, fibre, vitamins and minerals. They are an excellent source of plant-based protein, potentially beneficial for muscle growth and recovery. In addition, peanuts contain antioxidants.

Peanuts are consumed in a variety of ways – raw, roasted, as nut butter or added to baked goods, salads, snacks and dishes. Peanut oil is also popular because of its high acidity point and mild flavour and is therefore widely used in cooking.

People with nut allergies should avoid peanuts as they can cause severe allergic reactions.

The recommended daily intake of peanuts is around 28-30 grams (recommended to be soaked before eating), to ensure a good balance of nutrients and to avoid too many calories.
