Ethiopia is the cradle of coffee. Sidamo, a vast area in the fertile lands of the Rift Valley, is one of the three most famous coffee regions in Ethiopia (along with Harar and Jirgachefe). The Sidama region, located in the southern part of the country, is situated at an altitude of between 1 550 and 2 200 metres above sea level, with abundant rainfall, optimum temperatures and fertile soils.
